These protective boots/cases have been created so that operatives in the food sector can reduce the risk of cross contamination; it's an initiative that is widely practised within the UK which can help with HACCP procedures within a business. Although there are no legal guidelines on which colour should be used for particular foods, the accepted coding system in the UK is:
Yellow – Cooked meats
Red – Uncooked meats
White – Bread and dairy products such as cheese
Blue – Raw fish
Green – Salad and fruit
Brown – Vegetables
